Puppy Training Games

If you make up little puppy training games, basic dog obedience training will be lots of fun, for both you and your Bichon Frise puppy.

Training your new Bichon Frise puppy should be fun, for both you and your puppy. And it’s up to you to set the stage.

Plan to work with your pup for short periods of time. Puppies have very short attention spans! And brief training sessions will take very little of your precious time. Think of your puppy training games as time for bonding with your new pet.

Keep in mind that training a Bichon Frise will take some patience. Bichons, though cute as a button, can be temperamental and head strong.

Learn how to train your puppy the easy way from Doggy Dan, one of the world’s leading dog trainers.

You and your dog will be pals for years. It is important that your dog learns to follow basic commands.

When to Start Puppy Training Games

Puppy training should start as soon as you bring your new puppy home! Get your dog used to being handled and touched.

Then, talk to him so that he starts to understand your words. Speak slowly and use short sentences. Your Bichon will gradually understand what you are saying and what you want her to do.

Although Bichon Frises are very friendly, they tend to be on the shy side. To get past this shyness, you’ll need to work with your puppy when he is still little.

Keep puppy training simple and positive. Your Bichon Frise will want to please you, but she is quite sensitive and can easily have her feelings hurt. Praise your dog’s little accomplishments and correct her gently.

Begin with the basics such as Sit, Come and Stay when your dog is younger and work your way up to the more complicated commands as he grows older.

Indoor Fetch Puppy Training Games

Before you begin playing Frisbee with your dog outdoors, make sure that you teach him the basic commands of fetching right inside your home first.

Small things such as tossing a toy at him and making him bring it back to you may sound simple, but playing fetch actually helps your dog learn the basic obedience commands to “get the toy”, “come” and “drop it”.

Fun puppy training games will help your dog learn to be obedient, and they will establish your authority over him. You are the head of the pack, after all.

Don’t forget to praise your dog every time he cooperates with you. And you might consider offering a nice dog treat, as well.

Play Hide and Seek with Your Puppy

Playing hide and seek is another way to teach your dog to obey your commands and to develop self discipline.

Hide and Seek also helps your dog pay attention to your commands. He needs to listen to the words, then follow the command.

This is a hard game, at first. Be patient. Your dog will need to “sit” and “stay” – very difficult when you are moving away. On the command of “come”, your puppy will look for you and find you.

Make the game fun for your dog–and make sure that you always have a delicious treat waiting for her when she finds you!

As part of basic dog obedience training, socialization games develop your dog’s social skills and manners. Your Bichon Frise, just like you, needs to learn good manners and appropriate behavior.

Take your dog to the park and let him meet other dogs and people. At first, keep him on a leash. Introduce your dog to new people, both young and old.

At some point you can let your dog play with other dogs if the park allows dogs to be off their leashes. However, before you allow this, your dog must obey your commands for “come” and “stay”. Keep a close eye on your dog, because not all dogs are friendly.

Start socializing your new puppy when he is still very young.

Dog Obedience Training Made Easy

Basic dog obedience training is not difficult. And if you make up little games to train your dog, it will be more fun for both of you.

Your dog will learn faster, if he is relaxed and feels safe. If he needs to be reprimanded, do it gently.

Training games make training fun for both of you and will definitely produce a positive result. Your dog will be able to effortlessly recall the basic commands you taught him. He will look forward to your “training sessions”.

In addition to learning basic commands, your little guy will be developing strength, agility and learning how to pay attention to what you say. Puppy training games also help you bond and have fun with your puppy.

Keep things easy and simple and you’ll eventually have a happy and well behaved Bichon Frise dog.
