do dogs have premonition about their passing away?

My dog, Floydie (5 month old bichon) bid farewell by bringing me to the gate for work this morning and stood up to my lap 3 times playing for the FIRST time ever.

It was so unusual. He was the type that would just stay afar, afraid to be run over by the other dogs in bringing or meeting us at the gate.

I told him that we'd take a bath later today. 30 or 45 minutes later, news over the shortwave radio echoed that he was run over by a van upon chasing a stray dog... I will miss you Floydie...
