Bichon Puppies Feeding Advice

Many people ask how often should a Bichon Frise puppy be fed. So we will share our Bichon puppies feeding advice.

Let us first start out by saying that we highly recommend purchasing a premium puppy food or even better, a holistic puppy food.

A Bichon Frise diet should consist of the very best foods that you can get for your dog. Just like people, dogs need a good healthy diet to stay healthy and strong.

Bichon Frise Puppies Feeding Advice

Feed your dog a good diet, right from the start...

Make sure you read your puppy food bag or can for the specific amount to be fed to your Bichon puppy.

Puppies have different nutritional requirements than adult dogs so the amount of protein, calcium and calories will differ.

As a general rule, after your Bichon has been whelped from its mother, it will need to be fed 3 to 4 times a day up until it is 12 weeks old.

Between the ages of 3 to 6 months, 3 meals a day should be fed, spaced out throughout the day.

Over 6 months and thereafter, the puppies will require 2 recommended feedings daily.

Once they reach a year old, one feeding a day might be sufficient.

Try to always feed your Bichon Frise puppy a premium puppy food.

Some of the brands of premium food to look for would be Addiction Dry Puppy Food with Lamb, which is our favorite, Innova Puppy Dry Dog Food and Petcurean Now! Grain Free Puppy Food.

To be brutally honest, non-premium dog foods contain a lot of fillers and by-products. These by-products are in many cases roadkill or slaughterhouse leftovers considered unfit for human consumption.

So, why would you feed it to your dog?

The consequences of using inferior dog foods, mostly sold at supermarkets and many retail chains, are that you will dramatically increase your Bichon Frise puppy's chances of having severe dog allergies and other health issues.

Emily, the Bichon Frise, sitting on her perch. Here is a true personal experience about the importance of feeding your Bichon Frise puppies and adults a good premium dog food:

Our youngest Bichon Frise, Emily, was always having severe problems with her sensitive skin. She was continually chewing and biting off her hair on all parts of her body all the way down to bare bone and bloody skin.

We couldn't figure out what was the cause of this. Did she have fleas?

Was she allergic to the grass outside?

Was something inside our house bothering her?

We needed to find out the reason quickly because Emily was becoming very sad and miserable.

The Value of Good
Bichon Frise Puppies Feeding Advice!

After trying everything that we could think of, including going to the vet, we decided to change her diet as a last ditch effort. (We could have used some good Bichon puppies feeding advice then.)

We investigated the best dog foods, premium dog foods, allergy dog food and holistic dog food options.

We decided to try Addiction Dry Puppy Food with Lamb. After a week on Addiction, our wish and Emily's came true. She was no longer biting and chewing her hair off.

She has been on the Addiction dog diet for over a year now and has not had one single re-occurance.

Just as the story above illustrates, your dog's diet can really influence her health. Make sure you feed your dog a healthy diet.

One of the best ways to do that is to use a brand with a good, solid reputation.

Another way is to use dog treat recipes to make your own homemade dog treats.

And that is the best Bichon puppies feeding advice!
