Making homemade dog treats is a good way to supplement your dogs diet with healthy ingredients and to give her variety in her diet.
Would you like to surprise your “best friend” with some wonderful dog treats that you made yourself? I’ve included some of my favorite dog treat recipes below, to help you get started.
Of course you should feel free to experiment with these recipes, by adding or subtracting ingredients, based on what your dog likes.
Choose Healthy Ingredients for Homemade Dog Treats
When choosing ingredients, keep in mind that there are some foods can be harmful to dogs.
Never include these foods in your homemade dog treats recipes:
- grapes
- raisins
- macadamia nuts
- walnuts
- mushrooms
- raw potatoes with sprouts
- chocolate
- nutmeg
- sugar substitutes
- onion or garlic (including flakes and powders)
Many commercial dog treats actually contain roadkill, preservatives and fillers, as do the majority of dog foods.
Whenever possible, use only the highest quality ingredients, preferably organic. This will insure that your dog will be eating the healthiest and safest foods available.
Because your Bichon Frise is not very big, even small amounts of food or treats, can make a big difference in her diet.
